After hurricane season every year, it’s pretty common for Caribbean vacationers to wonder, “What’s open?” This September Hurricane Dorian severely impacted Grand Bahamas and Abacos with 185mph winds and 25ft storm surges, but the majority of the 700-island chain, including some of the most inhabited islands, was not affected. So we’re happy to say that yes, you can still visit Bahamas!
But more importantly, your visit is incredibly helpful to the region, since much of the country’s revenue depends directly on tourism. The major tourist areas of the Bahamas want you know they’re up and operating normally and eagerly waiting to show off their incredible beaches and blue seas. So take that Bahamas cruise, visit the Swimming Pigs, and explore the old rum-running shipwreck on Bimini. There’s so much to explore!
